Quarterly Luncheon Meetings
The quarterly meetings of the GHLC provide networking opportunities and informational sessions for GHLC members and other supporters in the cause for literacy. These meetings provide an important opportunity to stay informed about the Literacy Council's activities, meet others interested in literacy, and offer feedback to the Literacy Council. The meetings are generally held in the Hartford area on a weekday afternoon.

February Quarterly Luncheon Enjoyed by 100+
Virginia Mathews Provides Insights on Early Childhood and Family Literacy
The Quarterly Luncheon meeting held at the Pond House Café on February 2, 2006 broke attendance records. The luncheon provided an opportunity for networking and information sharing across programs and disciplines for the over 100 people in attendance. Featured speaker Virginia H. Mathews, nationally known literacy advocate and activist, provided a summary of her work spanning over 60 years of developing a personal passion for early childhood and family literacy into a national reality. Ms. Mathews’ comments were informative and inspiring. Copies of handouts from the meeting are available by contacting the Literacy Council.
