Recognizing the challenges involved with finding appropriate services, the Literacy Council has compiled two resource documents: 1) the 2004 Greater Hartford Adult Basic Education Services Directory, and 2) the overview of services.

2004 Greater Hartford Adult Basic Education Services Directory (779KB/PDF)

In order to assist providers as they refer clients for adult basic education services, the Literacy Council has created an Adult Basic Education Services Directory. This directory includes information on Greater Hartford adult basic education services, such as GED preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL) and reading instruction services. Each listing includes eligibility requirements, hours/days of operation, registration information, directions and a map.

Directory Highlights
  • Useful for referring adults in need of literacy services
  • Easy to use because it organizes information in two ways:
    • By program name
    • By type of service
  • Includes directions and a map for each program
  • Lists advocacy resources
  • Developed with input from service providers
We encourage you to let us know if you find the directory useful, and if you have any suggestions about how we can make this a better tool. Please contact us.
